Cherry Blossoms!!!!

Yippeee...! This weekend I will be part of the beautiful "Cherry Blossom" festival in Washington D C...

I came across the beautiful cherry blossom trees about 2 years ago, when i received a forward at work with the most amazing cherry blossom tree's pictures scattered across Japan... The pictures were so beautiful that i immediately called the one Japanese friend i had and asked her if it was really so spectacular in Japan...
N then she told me all about the "cherry blossoms",about how they bloom only for 3 weeks and that it was really as beautiful to look at as in the pictures.... Haa at that moment i had thought i would never be able to see it cause the window of opportunity was so small... U have to be in japan in that short duration of 3 weeks to be able to enjoy it.... But what i dnt know at that time is that i would be seeing the same thing in the US of A instead of Japan and makes me MORE than happy.... :)

One of my other flowery wishes is to visit Kashmir to see its beautiful Tulip gardens...

I am just posting a picture which i googled to get an idea of how it was going to be in DC this weekend and it looks very promising...!

Will post my pictures too when i get back..

Cakes,cakes N Cakes!

I am not a person with a sweet tooth but the few things which i like,i really do relish them....

One of those things is "THE" Pineapple cake from Sweet Chariot.... I was so fond of this cake that whenever i used to eat this cake,i would try to eat it as slowly as possible layer by layer... This cake was a very sweet part of my childhood n it still is....

During my childhood baking was not really a thing folks did at home.. U just have your local bakery where u go n buy all your goodies.. even now not many people bake until and unless u really like to bake or u r Christians to whom i think baking comes naturally... I know a Christian Aunty who makes lovely cakes....

Well i have always liked to bake, started my early experiments with baking in my childhood without the oven... :) I had seen this crazy stuff, where u use an cooker to bake the cake keeping the cooker half filled with sand and had tried it too...
The results were not so bad and had "baked" my first cake... It was Strawberry flavored with a lot of nuts... :) Heyy its a not so weird choice for a kid...

Then a few years back we got the OTG ie the Oven-Toaster-Griller thingy in which i used to bake a simple cake once in a blue moon cause i wasn't really satisfied with the results.. I felt i should have a micro wave oven.. but i dnt...

Anyway now here in US to my delight,i found out that every house has aaahaa,no not a microwave but a proper oven just to be used for baking all your goodies... Cakes, bread, cookies, brownies etc etc...

But my interest still remains in baking simple n nice cakes... Like maybe the Plain cake, coffee cake, carrot cake etc... the simple ones...

And yes i have started my baking journey here with mastering the simple sponge cake!
Its delicious and i love it! :)

Looking forward to baking more cakes and spreading a little joy around!

Comfort Food...

I had been to this great Italian restaurant called Olive Garden a few days back...

It was my first experience with authentic Italian food and as i was glancing through the menu,i wanted to try out so many of the dishes on the menu but was not sure if i would end up eating any of it if dnt like it.. As i am kinda finicky about my food...

N just like that my hubby ordered the Italian platter which had varieties of the food i wanted to taste which took off the pressure for me to order anything that i had not eaten before.. Aaah what a relief!

N as so so usual of me,i went back to ordering of my favorite food, the Pizza...!!!
But at least this time i had the authentic one... But it did not have the usual tomato base, which usually all pizza's have i wonder why... But no complaints as it was DELICIOUS!!!

The thing about pizza is,its my COMFORT FOOD... It does to me what chocolate does to other people.. feeds my soul!

Back in India also it used be that one thing i used to crave about whenever i was low or even when i was in the best of moods... I just love pizza..!
N here in US most of the times the only thing i eat when i go out is pizza...
No need for me to be finicky here!

A Day Late...

I created my blog yesterday and am a day behind in writing my fIRsT post...

Aaah blame it on the sudden attack of virus which managed to keep me in bed for the rest of the day....

I had created a blog few years back but just couldn't get myself to write much...
Hopefully this time it will be better....

I have got all the time in the world and maybe writing about whatever little i do will make me feel better...

Especially when am writing the post, eating a nice piece of cake..! :)
